Vagner dos Santos da Silva
I'm a mechanical engineering student, born in Brazil (Salvador - BA), with a strong interest in mobile robots, particularly in navigation, localization, and manipulation. Ever since my undergraduate research at the Robotics and Autonomous Systems Lab at SENAI CIMATEC, where I had the opportunity to work with real robots and learn from experienced professionals, I've been fascinated by the challenges and potential of these machines.

Currently I'm gaining experience as an intern at SENAI CIMATEC. I collaborate on underwater and mobile robotics projects with the Brazilian Institute of Robotics (BIR). My role involves supporting project development through technical studies, test execution, and documentation. I also contribute to scientific communication by developing materials that promote knowledge sharing within the field. Furthermore, I actively participate in activities that follow established innovation and technology project methodologies, and assist in monitoring operational processes to ensure adherence to acquisition procedures and terms of reference.
Skills
My technical background includes a foundation in mechanical design. I have knowledge in programming languages like Python and C++, and I'm familiar with using ROS (Robot Operating System) for robot development. I've also gained experience in robot simulation using Gazebo.

- Conducted a benchmarking analysis of commercially available quadruped robots to identify the most suitable platform for the project.
- Successfully developed a proof-of-concept quadruped robot with integrated payloads, a 3D laser sensor, and autonomous navigation capabilities.
- Simulated quadruped robots with ROS, Gazebo, and RViz and created a Python algorithm that improved autonomous navigation of quadruped robots on inclined terrain by 95.96% using a 2D laser sensor.
- Designed and 3D-printed a structure using Onshape to mount a Velodyne VLP-16 3D laser sensor onto a Unitree Robotics B1 quadruped robot.
